IntroductionThe primary role of the Ministry of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development under which the activities of trade and investment fall, is to spearhead trade and industrial development in Namibia, and perhaps more important, to promote and attract local and foreign investment. Appropriate mechanisms have also been established in order to pursue the policy of economic diplomacy.
Namibia offers investment opportunities in various areas and sectors. The country boasts an impressive rating as a competitive investment location and its continuous ranking among the five most competitive economies in sub-Saharan Africa by the World Economic Forum.
Political stability, good governance and the respect for the rule of law, investment-friendly legislative and regulatory framework, and world-class physical infrastructure round off Namibia’s attractiveness for business and investment.
Namibia aspires for sustainable economic growth through investment, industrialization and trade. In this context, the Namibia High Commission in New Delhi is renewing its call to Indian business persons to invest in Namibia, and secondly, to explore joint venture partnerships in mining, agriculture, infrastructure development and manufacturing amongst other fields.
